“When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford.”

London – a 13 million inhabitants city – so rich of culture and entertainment, one of the most cosmopolitan and capricious cities in the world but at the same time commanded by the rigour and respect of rules. People who is passionate about classical culture will surely appreciate the British Museum which ranges from the Egyptian culture to the Etruscan one, going through the Asian culture. But the real fascination is represented by the National Gallery where you get totally lost within a Titian, Leonardo or a Raphael as well as Van Gogh’s sunflowers, Degas’ dancers or the amazing landscapes by Monet. As soon as you go out, when you are sure to have seen it all, there is a breath-taking sight in Trafalgar Square waiting for you; and just for a moment you realise that the air you are breathing is completely different to that you are used to. Walking a few metres further you can find the symbols of this city: the Big Ben and Westminster Abbey, everyday destination of hundreds of tourists, inside of where are located the graves of the most important English poets, from William Shakespeare, Charles Dickens to Alfred Tennyson and Rudyard Kipling. But London is not just art, it can be regarded as romantic when you take a walk on the Thames, being astonished by the Ferris wheel. It can be the perfect city for those who are looking for some calmness, vagabonding for one of the numerous parks of the city and if it’s autumn is even better because the falling of the leaves makes everything more charming. It could be the perfect city even for those who love shopping: from the numerous street markets in Camden Town and Portobello Road to the unlimited boutique in Regent Street which light up on Christmas time. It must be mentioned the electronic placards in Piccadilly Circus which become even more brighter on evening. Piccadilly Circus represents the focal centre of this city: from here you can reach all the main streets: from the already mentioned Regent Street to Oxford Street to turn up in New Oxford Street. In every corner it’s easy to meet young talents who practise break dance or beat box making all more exciting. The perfect mix of cultures is represented by Soho, a small and multicultural area of the city. But the multiculturalism is actually showed everywhere, in all the areas of the city, thanks to the small restaurants that differ one from the other for their ethnicities. And maybe that’s the best part of the city, a wide range of cultures that coexist respecting each other. To those who think of London as a boring city, made of tight time, they will be disappointed. You can never be bored by the great discos and pubs. These are the places where the best Djs and singers of all the time performed. The same happened in the big theatres , such as the Royal Opera House and the Queen’s Theatre, home of great shows. To sum up, London is a city that never disappoints, giving space to the multitude of young people to express themselves without any danger of being judged and guarantying at the same time a safer life.
